Introducing your new membership card from Chelmsford Star
In the past members of Chelmsford Star Co-operative Society used a ‘chip and pin’ card called the Starcard to collect Stars from the majority of purchases in our stores. This was converted into Dividend based on profitability at the end of each year in May following the Society’s Annual General Meeting.
As a result of extensive discussions with the Co-operative Group - the UK’s largest Co-operative retailer – the Starcard was replaced with The Co-operative Membership, a national membership scheme with many more benefits.
When?
This process took place in late 2009. During that period, all active members of Chelmsford Star received their replacement membership card via the post including a questions and answers guide to potential queries.
How?
All your membership details such as share capital and dividend entitlement is held on the new Co-operative Membership card. This new card will continue to operate in the same way as the old Starcard and will offer the same level of return. Please note however, that ‘Stars’ will now be known as ‘points’ and ‘dividend’ as ‘a share of the profits’.
What’s new?
You will be able to use your new Co-operative Membership card in any other Society participating in the national scheme, simply look for the membership sticker displayed on the door or window.
