Chelmsford Star Co-op is looking to open new convenience stores in Essex & East London…

Chelmsford Star Co-operative Society has been serving the local communities of Essex since 1867, when it opened its first store in Chelmsford.

Over 150 years later, the Society continues to seek opportunities to service more communities by opening new food convenience stores.

Chelmsford Star not only serves the community by providing convenient stores to purchase your groceries, but it also gives back to the communities in which it trades.

It does this by:

  • reinvesting its profits into local initiatives and causes
  • issuing grants to Essex-based charities from its community fund
  • supporting local food and drink producers
  • Awarding its members (customers) with a share of the profits

To enable us to give back to more communities, we are seeking properties or existing businesses that we can acquire to grow our store portfolio…

If you have a development site opportunity, or an existing convenience store business that you are looking to sell, then please get in touch.

We have the following criteria:

  • A minimum of 2,500 sq ft up to a maximum of 4,000 sq ft gross retail space (with a minimum sales area of 2,000 sq ft)
  • Community-based locations eg neighbourhood shopping parades, adjacent to schools etc.
  • Prominent location in a densely populated area
  • Complementary businesses in the locality, e.g. pharmacies, takeaway food etc.
  • Freehold or leasehold properties
  • We will consider all development opportunities including existing business units, pub conversions, new developments etc
  • Located in Essex, or East London

We are able to consider opportunities rapidly and provide quick decisions, making dealing with us simple and easy.
