Community Card

What is it?

Co-ops across the country value and encourage self-help where possible, and this was the thinking behind the Community Card.

Developed in 1999 as a self-help tool, the Community Card Scheme has gone from strength to strength, with many local groups reaping the financial benefits. Today over 350 local community and charity groups have opened a Community Card account, including schools, playgroups, sports clubs, charities, churches, scout groups and many others.

The initiative is free, and sees an organisation's supporters and friends rewarded when they shop in our stores. This reward can be withdrawn by the organisation as cash at any time, and when that happens we add 50% to the value as a thank you.

‘Last year we successfully raised over £500 using our Community Cards, providing the school with much needed outdoor play equipment.’ - Danbury Park School

Qualifying purchases will earn your group 2 points per £1 spent which is converted into cash at a rate of £5 for every 1,000 points. Funds can be withdrawn on a quarterly basis or carried over. When you cash in your points we will donate an extra 50% to your group. Our Memberhip department can also help raise awareness by promoting fund-raising events, offer press and PR support and customer awareness campaigns through our trading outlets.

‘With no outlay and easy administration the card is a great scheme’- Friends Of Tyrells School

How much could we earn?

The success of the Community Card is dependant upon you, your organisation and your friends/ supporters/ followers getting behind it. Our best performing group has earned in excess of £7000 and we have a number who have recently hit the £2000 and £1000 mile stones - just for doing their normal shop.

This scheme is designed to provide continuous additional funds. For a list of groups we currently support, click here.

Points can be earned on the majority of goods sold from our food, department, travel and funeral outlets. It all adds up no matter how large or small the purchase.
