Chelmsford Star signs up its 350th Community Group Member

Chelmsford Star Co-operative Society has just signed up Marie Curie as its 350th Community Card Member.

The Community Card scheme now in its 17th Year, is attractive to many local community groups as an additional tool in their fund raising box. Simple to use, the cards are given to friends and supporter who in turn receive points on most purchases from shopping in any of the Society’s outlets. These points then in turn into cash which the group can use towards whatever goal they choose.

Head of Membership, Kevin Bennett commented;

“We are delighted that this very well known charity has seen the potential of the card in assisting them in their fund raising efforts.”

The Chelmsford branch of Marie Curie has been running for 3 years and over that time has raised £71,000 equating to 3550 hours of nursing care and support for terminally ill people and their families in the Chelmsford area.
