Your Choices

What to Wear?

Funerals are respectful occasions, and part of being respectful is dressing appropriately. What is considered suitable dress for mourning varies by country and culture. Though black is traditional for a funeral in Western cultures, there are other options that are just as acceptable today, depending on how well you knew the person.

Black, navy, gray or other dark colours usually appear more conservative. Revealing clothes are not appropriate, as some churches prefer shoulders and knees to remain covered.

Online Obituaries

With the assistance of our partner, Funeral Zone, all of those who knew your loved one have the opportunity to pay their respects and reflect on your loved one’s life.

The easily accessible online obituary allows friends and family to share their thoughts and memories of your loved one. What’s more, the service offers you a convenient outlet to inform family and friends of the funeral details.

Funeral stationery is a simple way of  personalising a funeral and provides an opportunity to create a unique commemoration to the person who has died.

Our range includes a selection of beautifully designed Orders of Service, Attendance Cards, Memorial Cards and Bookmarks all of which can include photographs, personal messages, readings, hymns and poems.

To include an image of the deceased we would request that you provide us with a good quality photograph or email one to us in a high quality PDF version. Please discuss this with us and we can assist at all levels.

Floral Tributes

From a traditional wreath to something more unusual, flowers can be a beautiful personal tribute. Whether you wish to create a bespoke arrangement of your loved one’s favourite flowers or to choose from a selection of thoughtfully designed tributes, we can help you find the perfect floral tribute.

We work with local florists experienced in funeral flowers and tributes, but if you prefer to use another company we can liaise with them as required.

The Cortege

The coffin is usually taken to the funeral location in a procession of vehicles known as a cortege. The most popular funeral transport is still the hearse and the funeral director will offer additional cars for transporting family members.

Booking your transport

Prior to the day of the funeral you will need to consider what sort of transport you want. Here are some questions you may need to consider;

Chapel of Rest

All of our funeral homes have their own private chapel of rest with the exception of Broomfield. Hopefully this makes visiting loved ones easier, being in a familiar and comfortable environment.

Coffins and Caskets

The selection of a coffin or casket

We supply a wide range of coffins and caskets, in a variety of materials and finishes from the most simple to the truly elaborate, suitable for burial or cremation.

We recognize that for some people choosing a coffin may be distressing, but it would be inappropriate for us to make the decision for you.

The cost of the funeral

When you have made your choice we will give you a written estimate of the cost. If, at any stage, you would like to change anything we will help you do this. Any changes you make may however affect the cost of the funeral.

The cost of the funeral is made up of the following;
