For nearly 150 years, people in Essex have chosen to become members of the Chelmsford Star Co-operative Society and now tens of thousands enjoy the benefits of membership.
How do I become a member?
Invest £1! See the Join Today page to join online or pick up an application form from any of our shops. Send the form back or hand to your local branch, and the card will be posted to you within a week.
Where can I earn points?
Points can be collected on a Co-operative Membership card every time you shop in a Chelmsford Star Co-operative store. It can be any of our food shops, Quadrant departmental stores, Co-operative Travel agents and Co-op Funeral homes (certain exclusions apply).
What are points worth?
We give 2 points for every whole £1 spent in any of our stores (excluding PayPoint, mobile top-ups, SIM cards, gift cards, postage stamps, fuel, cigarettes, tobacco, lottery, currency, and infant and baby milk formula). With the announcement of our financial results at our AGM, usually held in May, we’ll know how much our points are worth. At the current rate they are worth £5 per 1000 points, giving you a better return than both the Tesco and Sainsbury loyalty cards. Your points are then converted onto your Membership Card into your electronic share of the profits for use against future purchases in the Society.
The more you spend with us throughout the year, the greater the share of our profits you’ll earn.
Can I use the card elsewhere?
The card isn’t only for use at Chelmsford Star outlets. It can also be used to collect points in any other co-operative societies displaying the yellow Co-operative Membership sticker on their front door or window.
