Chelmsford Star Co-op has a new Society President; Mrs Judy Saunders.
Judy was elected by her fellow Directors and is no stranger to responsibility having previously served as Vice-President. She also represents the Society in the local Co-op Party and the City Fairtrade Committee.
Judy said, “I feel honoured to have this appointment. I support our independent co-operative society unreservedly and will endeavour to live up to its Values and Principles in everything I do as President.” She then added, “I am particularly delighted that Chelmsford Star has been recognised with the Fair Tax Mark during my Presidency.”
Originally elected onto the Society’s Members Council in 2007, Judy has been heavily involved at all levels of governance since that date and often rolls her sleeves up to get ‘stuck in’ at events. Her personal highlight so far? Dressing up as a strawberry whilst encouraging children to eat more fruit.
Outgoing President, Susan Sullivan, was elected as the Society’s Vice-President.
Other changes to the Board included the re-election of Tony Price following the departure of Stephen Birmingham. The Board is grateful for Stephen’s commitment to the Society during his period of service.
