Local Group Helps Chelmsford Star Make Co-op Hat-trick For Tilbury

Chelmsford Star has formally launched its latest food store in Portsea Road, with help from the Tilbury Riverside Project. This brings the Society’s ever increasing portfolio of food stores to forty one.

The Tilbury Riverside Project, which promotes and supports economic, social and cultural regeneration in the area, is just one of hundreds of community groups that Chelmsford Star assists as part of its everyday business.

The store on Portsea Road is the society’s third in Tilbury, joining branches in Calcutta Road and Princess Margaret Road. Since purchasing the store last month, it has already greatly increased available ranges and improved the shopping environment for all.

The staff at the store, which was previously linked to another co-op group, have all been retained.

Barry Wood, Chief Executive Officer for the Society commented;

“We are delighted to bring our local co-operative brand and spirit to Portsea Road, and will be actively looking for opportunities to build upon our existing relationship with the Tilbury community and its residents.”
