New Partnership Launched for Dementia Awareness Week

Cooper Bear helps launch a new partnership

We've partnered up with the Alzheimer's Society, just in time for Dementia Action Week.

To draw attention to the cause, Alzheimer's Society are holding a concert at Chelmsford Cathedral on 24th May at 1.30pm, entitled 'Singing For The Brain' and all are welcome to join in the fun. Chelmsford Star will be providing all the refreshments. This is just one of many events taking place across the country for Dementia Action Week (#DAW2018).

We chose the Alzheimer's Society to work with as part of our 'Charity of the Year' initiative, following a vote by our employees.

Ray Nash, Senior Regional Corporate Fundraising Executive for the Alzheimer's Society, said of the partnership; "In Essex, there are over 20,000 people living with dementia, and it is now the biggest killer in the UK. We are very excited to be working with Chelmsford Star to help build a more 'dementia-friendly' county."

Kevin Bennett, Head of Membership and Marketing for Chelmsford Star, said; "Sadly, many of us know someone who is affected by dementia - either directly or through a family member. Our emplyees voted overwhelmingly to support this excellent cause, and we are looking forward to working with them on projects across Essex over the coming 12 months."
