Santa’s Little Hullbridge Helpers

Thursday Dec 07, 2023

We were pleased to once again assist Hullbridge Parish Council with their quest to provide the Christmas trimmings to every person over the age of eighty in their area.

The annual Christmas initiative, which we started supporting in 2021, provides all those of qualifying age with a bag of Co-op goodies, including fruit, vegetables, Christmas pudding, mince pies and custard, shortbread, cheese crackers and a box of chocolates.

The number of people benefiting has swelled to over 250 this year, and has become a point of joy for many of the beneficiaries. Those in the Parish Council help distribute the bags, stopping to chat to each person and regularly becoming the highlight of their weeks.

James, Manager from the Hullbridge Co-op (far left), said, “It is such a pleasure to be able to donate both food and bags-for-life to the Parish Council who do a lot of good work in the area, and this initiative in particular helps some of our regular customers too and we hear how grateful they are for the assistance at this time of year.”

Nicola, Clerk and RFO to Hullbridge Parish Council , said, “We can’t thank Chelmsford Star Co-op, and the team at the green Hullbridge Co-op specifically, for their assistance and donation. It’s really appreciated.”
