Chelmsford Star Co-operative Society has partnered with Chelmsford City Council to clean up a section of Chelmsford City Centre. The three hour event takes place at 10am on Saturday 4th July starting in Central Park, Chelmsford and all equipment will be provided to everyone who takes part.
The cleanup is just one of a number of events the Society will be holding during the annual Co-operative Fortnight which runs from 20th June to 4 July, 2015.
Head of Membership Kevin Bennett said;
“This year, the theme for Co-operative Fortnight is ‘The Big Clean Up’, and different co-ops up and down the country will be supporting the topic with their own events. We at Chelmsford Star thought it would be a great opportunity to get everyone involved in cleaning up our lovely central park.”
“We have had a tremendous response to our call for help so far but the more that get involved the better. We hope we will be able to see a tangible difference for our efforts”
Volunteers from all ages are welcome to join the team, however anyone under 14 needs to be accompanied by an adult.
The meeting area will be at the Co-operative marquee in central park, where all equipment will be provided, however volunteers are requested to make sure they are wearing suitable clothing and footwear.
After the event at 1pm the Society will be serving free refreshments to all volunteers from the marquee.
