Chelmsford Star Co-operative acquires Public House

Chelmsford Star Co-operative Society has recently acquired The Catcracker Public House in Stanford-le-Hope, Essex.

The Society completed the purchase of the Public House from Enterprise Inns and intends to convert the property to a convenience store taking its number of food stores to 39 across Essex.

Commenting on the acquisition Chief Executive Officer, Barry Wood said; “The Society is committed to growing its estate of food stores and especially moving into new trading areas”.

The Society is in the process of obtaining the necessary planning consents to improve the look of the external façade and hopes to have the store trading by mid-December.

Stuart Hammond, Head of Food for Chelmsford Star, commented “The acquisition of The Catcracker in the Sorrells is an exciting development for the Society taking our food offer into a new area and we look forward to putting an offer together in the store to meet the needs of the local community”.
