Chelmsford Star Make Grand Gesture To Emergency Relief

Chelmsford Star, the independent co-operative that supports the people of Essex, has spread its efforts further afield this week with donations going global.

Chelmsford Star have donated £1,000 to a specially created Storm & Flood Appeal, with funds being used to help the reconstructive efforts in both the Caribbean and south-east Asia. The emergency appeal was created by Co-operatives UK, and so far co-ops across the UK have pledged over £100,000 in support with more still coming in.

Little Havens, an essential children’s hospice based in Thundersley, was on hand to help their local co-op re-open with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on 20th September.

Little Havens, which looks after children with life-limiting conditions across Essex, is one of the hundreds of groups that Chelmsford Star Co-operative support through fund-raising, and also the Charity of the Year selected by its employees. Volunteers were on hand during the launch to raise awareness on their work and collect much-needed funds.
