Donations made to local children's fun week

The 14th annual Fun Week was held at the Scout Hut in Langton Avenue in Melbourne, run by the community of sisters living in Anderson avenue.

The week was very much appreciated by local families whose children enjoyed a rich variety of activities through the week – from cookery to craft – sport – drama – music – dance.

The hut throbbed to the sounds of laughter and fun for a whole week as the children were held enthralled by a strong group of young helpers who animated the week.

Calendar photography competition

Chelmsford Star Co-op, the community focused Society behind Quadrant department stores and many local co-op food shops are holding a photograph competition.

The calendar will be sold via our outlets to assist in raising some funds for our Charity of the year; Little Havens.

The theme for the calendar will be 'Wonderful Essex', giving buddy photographers plenty of scope for ideas; it could be an iconic Essex landmark, cute wildlife, stunning vistas, or even scenes from a local event.

To enter you must be a member of Chelmsford Star Co-operative Society.

Local Charity Launches New Look Co-op in Ingatestone

Remus Horse Sanctuary, the popular animal charity from Ingatestone and one of our Community Card groups, was on hand to help their local co-operative re-open with a ribbon cutting ceremony on 2nd August.

Remus, which looks after, not just horses, but donkeys, cows, sheep, goats and cats that have been abused or mistreated, is one of hundreds of groups that Chelmsford Star Co-operative support through fund-raising.

Thousands flock to Essex Food Festival

The Essex Festival of Food and Drink is held once a year at Cressing Temple Barns in Braintree, Essex. Celebrating all the fantastic food and drink that Essex has to offer and with almost sell out crowds this year proved to be just as popular as previous years!

It was the seventh year for the show and headline cookery demonstrations came from James Martin and Nadiya Hussain.
