Blofelds Iconic ‘62’ Chair - exclusive to quadrant

With its strong heritage in handcrafting beautiful upholstery, G Plan Vintage relaunched its famous winged armchair, known as “The World’s Most Comfortable Chair”, in 2013.

The original 6250 chair took the swivel idea from the very best offices in the 1960s and added the hypnotic appeal of rocking, the sheer convenience of gliding and made it perfectly balanced. Chelmsford Star Announces Interim Results for 2015

Essex based Co-operative; Chelmsford Star vigilantly announced its half yearly results to members at an evening meeting held on Monday 12th October at the quadrant department store, Chelmsford. 

Chief Executive Officer, Barry Wood told the audience that 2015 was the most difficult year he could ever recall. This was due to a number of factors including price deflation on both food and fuel, an increase in direct competition to the society’s food and funeral business plus the growth of the discounters within the area.

An Exclusive Pyrex Collection for Chelmsford Star Food Stores

Chelmsford Star Co-operative is running a Pyrex promotion across all its 40 food stores from Monday 19th October to Sunday 10th January 2016.  

Customers simply collect stickers, one for every £5 on the majority of purchases and adhere them to a collector card. Once they have collected 20, the card can be redeemed against one of 8 items in the collection at up to 83% off the retail recommended price.

Springfield Stores to Receive Major Refits

As part of its refit strategy, Chelmsford Star Co-operative is to refit its two Springfield stores within the next two months.

Both stores at 15 Havengore and 14-15 Torquay Road will close for a short period to enable floor and ceiling work to be carried out.

  • Havengore will close from Saturday 24th October at 5pm and will re-open on Thursday 5th November at 10am.
  • Torquay Road will close from Saturday 14th November at 5pm and will re-open on Thursday 26th November at 10am.

New Carrier Bag Law is Kinder to the Environment

A five pence mandatory charge for single use plastic carrier bags is to be introduced from 5st October 2015. The new legislation requires large retailers to charge a minimum of 5p for every single-use plastic bag issued to customers.

Chelmsford Star Co-op will be introducing chargeable bags across its food stores including an extra large vest bag for 5p and a foldaway pocket bag for £1. The department stores will change from plastic bags to free paper bags.

The Lucky co-operative in Hawkwell gets a make-over

The co-operative convenience store located on the Main Road in Hawkwell and owned by Chelmsford Star Co-operative Society has been closed for 11 days for major refurbishment work and is due to re-open on Thursday 27th August at 10am.

As part of the Society’s ongoing store upgrade programme, Hawkwell is to receive not only a new shop floor and lighting system, but also new fixtures and fittings, new chilled and frozen cabinets, as well as new air conditioning and signage.

New Toy Department set to open in quadrant Chelmsford

The quadrant department store in Chelmsford is set to open a new toy department in early August, ran by concessionaire, Toytown.

Toytown is a family run business that knows the importance of providing what customers want and has nearly 40 years of experience of selling toys in the UK & Ireland. They already have a strong working relationship through the Quadrant department store in Braintree, where they have supplied toys for a number of years.

Co-op brings Essex producers get together at Cressing Temple food event

Chelmsford Star Co-operative recently attended the Essex Festival of Food and Drink held on 18th and 19th July at the Cressing Temple, with its own marquee called the “Only Way is Local” which showcased 20 of its local food and drink suppliers.

Over 8000 foodies came out in the sunshine to enjoy a whole host of food and drink related merchandise as well as see TV super Chefs James Martin from Saturday Kitchen and John Torode from Master Chef.
