Chelmsford Co-op makes a BIG difference to a small charity!

Chelmsford Star Co-operative has proudly announced that its employees, customers and members have together, raised a massive £38,734 for its eighth Charity of the Year, the J’s Hospice.

The year started in May 2014 and ran to the end of April, 2015 and during the period; numerous activities were run across the Society’s food, departmental store, funeral and travel outlets.

A new Look for the Co-op at Beehive Lane

Independent Co-operative Society, Chelmsford Star re-opened its convenience store at Beehive Lane, Chelmsford after having been closed for the previous two weeks for major refit work.

Chief Executive Officer, Barry Wood commented;

“The store has been serving Baddow for decades but has in recent years started to look very tired. So, following the results of a resident survey carried out a few months ago, and in conjunction with the Society’s refit strategy, a plan was drawn up to update the store incorporating where possible the aspirations of the residents.”

Chelmsford Star Co-op to Hold an Essex Producer Summit

Local co-operative, Chelmsford Star is holding an evening meeting for its Essex producers currently supplying its 39 stores across the region. The inaugural event is to be held in the quadrant, Chelmsford on 29th April. 

Titled ‘ideas and inspiration’, the Society has asked its 40 producers to supply the top three most pressing issues they have in their business, and then has brought captains of industry together to help address these problems.

Some of the issues include funding, accessing new markets, logistics, marketing on small budgets and auto enrolment. 

Attending the AGM at Chelmsford Star Co-op Pays Dividends!

Local independent Co-operative Society, Chelmsford Star is to hold its Annual General Meeting in its quadrant department store, Moulsham Street, Chelmsford on Monday 11th May at 6.30pm.

The AGM is a chance for members (who own and control the Society) to find out how the Society is performing, meet their Directors and ask questions.

Local Co-op Funeral Director Extends New Counselling Service

Chelmsford Star Co-operative Funeral Services has just extended a free bereavement and counselling service to all following the success of a trial run with its clients at its Main Road branch,   Danbury.

This local funeral director has been offering free to all bereavement support groups for over 15 years but has recognised that some people need more specific counselling.

Funeral Operations Manager, Craig Jackson commented;

Ex Mayor Relaunches Broomfield Co-op

As part of its refit programme, Chelmsford Star Co-operative recently revamped its convenience food store, in Broomfield Road, Chelmsford and was duly relaunched on 18th March, by ex mayor of Chelmsford, Joyce Ashford.

The store was closed for 10 days in order to renew the fixtures and fitting and update the ranges with more emphasis being given to fresh including food produced in Essex.

Joyce has been a regular shopper at the store for over 40 years, she commented;

Co-op team enter Pedal for the J's 50 mile bike ride

We have a team entering The J's Hospice ‪Pedal For The J's event on Sunday 3rd May. 

Emily Smith (Marketing Department), Paul Nagy (Support Services) and Mathew Champney of Ph2o Photography Limited will be taking on the 50 mile route and raising money for our charity of the year.
