Help us to help you & your neighbourhood! We are looking for champions within your community to ensure our support meets the local needs. If you're interested in getting involved, we would love to hear from you. We will then look to organise a get together in your area of likeminded people to discuss the ways in which we can work together. There are a number of ways you can get in touch:
Essex-based independent co-op, Chelmsford Star, announced a year-on-year growth in sales of 3.9% at its half-yearly interim meeting this week, increasing to 4.4% growth when measured on a like-for-like basis. The result has been fuelled by excellent performances in its core food and funeral businesses, which CEO Barry Wood puts down to significant investment ‘behind the scenes’ over the last few years.
Earlier this year, our Funerals team launched a brand new weekend Bereavement Aftercare & Support Group. The service is aimed at those of working age who may find it difficult to attend a support group around the normal working day.
We are pleased to say that the sessions have been very well received, and will be continuing into 2019. The sessions take place in a private room at Chelmsford Library on a Saturday morning (9am - 11am), and are an informal opportunity for people to meet with others in a similar situation.
Our Membership & Community team have been very busy over the past couple of weeks. They've been getting out and about and presenting money raised on our fundraising Community Cards to a number of groups across Essex.
We've presented Braintree Town Football Club with a cheque for £180. The Football Club plans to put this money towards a disabled toilet facility.
Thriftwood School in Chelmsford received £255, and their funds are going towards subsidising school trips for the children.
