Writtle food store re-opens with a brand new-look!

Friday Apr 19, 2024

Our Writtle food store reopened today (19th April)  with a brand-new look, switching from bright green to a more modern cool blue and bringing the internationally recognised Co-op logo into the village.

Internally, the store received a remarkable make-over considering it was only closed to the public briefly, this included brick-effect walls, wooden panelling, extended chillers, a new focus on food to go and a new layout designed to make shopping easier.

Store Manager Jenny Evans received plenty of positive comments from the first customers and members through the doors.

Also on hand at launch day were local brands Fairfield Crisps, Broadoak Farm Sausages and Tapp’d Cocktails. The sampling went down a treat, with one local resident saying, “I do love to shop local brands where possible, and these samples remind me why. Absolutely delicious.”

This is Chelmsford Star Co-op’s third food store to boast the International Co-operative Alliance’s branding, with more appearing soon, having been adopted by Chelmsford Star’s funeral business some years ago.

Chief Operating Officer, Brendan Smith, said; “We’ve learnt a few lessons with our earlier refits, and it’s been wonderful to apply them here.”

Members will currently save 10% in store Monday to Fridays*, so why not come along and view the store for yourself, whilst making some savings.

You’ll find us in Bridge Street and we’re open 7am – 10pm, Monday to Saturday and 10am – 4pm on Sundays.
